#TAD questions?
8 messages in this thread
I have sent in my TAD registration card over a mounth ago. Should I
have recived any thing about upgrading to TAD Pro? It is something I could
realy use. I was wondering if there is a way of loading one GIF image at a
time into TAD from an animated GIF? How is support for GIF89a comming?
Dirk A. Jones
We have not mailed anything about ADPro yet.
Support for 89a is done. I{t turns out that the programming did a strict
comparison on 87a. If you have an 89a that your GIF module won't load, then
simply edit the 87 into an 89 using your favorite editor. An upgrade for a
change this minor would be more hassle than it is worth (and there is a
work around).

ASDG,
This seems another example of a method of doing business which seems
downright abusive.
I switched from an A1000 to A3000 and the AHAM and ARES modes in TAD don't
work. I called Perry and he said you guys didn't feel like fixing them.
"Hardly anybody uses them anyway."!!!! Well I do, and I resent ASDG
failing to make good on its advertising promisses.
Your refusal to fix ERRORS in TAD and the GIF loader, when combined with
your expectation of rather hefty income from them bothers me. How an I not
to feel completely ripped off by this?!
What's the deal?
Doug
Doug,
If you are willing to go through the effort of sending us your original GIF
disk, we'll send you the new GIF module. That is, provided that you live in
the U.S. Consider that the change is extremely minor, that you have a
work-around, and that when an upgrade to TAD takes place, you'll get the
newest version of each module you own anyway.
Don't feel ripped off…you're not. Rather, feel reasonable and reason
through the relative benefits versus expenses.
pk
pk,
Yes, that DOES make me feel better. My objection was to the comment that
there would NOT be an update to TAD to fix the dynamic modes at all for the
A3000. Since you imply that there will, in fact, be one forthcomming this
resolves the issue.
I appreciate the speedy response, and look foreward to the update.
(Any guess on time frame?)
Doug
Doug, I don't have a time frame as we can only work on 12 things at once.
🙂 Right now, all effort it bent towards getting ADPro finished in a
reasonable time. Next, we'd like to support a new low end scanner. After
that TAD comes up again.

Doug Tittle has shamed us into taking control of our software versions!
One reason why patch files were not forthcoming was that the programmers
did not have a strict policy of discipline enforced upon them. IE: we
couldn't make patches because we literally didn't have copies of the old
binaries.
Well, I spent a few hours in meetings today to make sure that that doesn't
happen again in the future. Also, I got everyone in the company to comb
through their disks and have found 2 older versions of the GIF modules.
Therefore, please find in DL 2 (as soon as it is merged) the file called
GIF105.lzh.
This file contains lpatch patch files (lpatch is also in dl 2) which will
bring versions 1.0.3 and 1.0.4 up to the current 1.0.5.
Hope this makes Doug feel better.
