#ADRAM 540

Anyone have an ICD ADRAM 540? I have one, but the ram chips I bought (256×4
80ns) cause a guru. They are OKI m514256a-80R chips.
The Oki chips should work fine. The most common cause of a problem is not
having the jumpers properly set. It is also helpful in diagnosing the
problem to know how much ram you added, what version of kickstart you have,
whether or not you did the advanced installation, etc. It would really be
a lot faster to diagnose if you called voice tomorrow, since there are a
lot of questions and answers involved. Not between 11:30 and 12:30
central, since I am at lunch, but any other time in the 8-5 central span
should be fine.

I have an AdRAM 540. The first unit I got was defective and had to have it
replaced by ICD. However, unless you made a typo, the chips you are using
are not in the Compatible-Chips listing in the AdRAM 540 manual.
In any case, double-check with ICD customer support.
I have a 540 with 1.5 meg of which 0.5meg is the same model chips that were
mentioned The unit seems to work just fine. It's really impossible for
them to list all the model chips available. I don't like mixing chips from
different mfg.s but in my case I have had no problems with the 540 using
two different mfg.s.
Thanks for the message. ICD says the chips should work. With other chips
the board works fine. Thanks again, Mark.
