Hello.
I have a friend who is totally blind and who wants to learn to
program. I have no doubt of his ability to learn programming concepts;
however, he isn't familiar with things like the Amiga keyboard, CON:
windows, etc.
I started to wrestle with this problem and came up with a couple
possible solutions, for example rerouting ARexx standard output to SPEAK:,
but the keyboard is still sort of a problem.
If anyone knows where I could find a talking console driver or
anything else that might help, please let me know.

Closest thing to speach recognition on the Amiga is VoRecOne by
Impulse. Depending on how good you are at 'training' it, it can recognize
from 10% to 90% of what it is told. My kids were able to get up to the 80%
recognition level, but I never got better than 20%. But then again, frogs
seem to love it when I speak.

August '90 BYTE has an article on helping blind/deaf persons, _Opening
Doors for the Disabled_, Pg 258 that may be of interest. THe two pictures
on page 262 on Braille i/o devices is definetly interesting.
Also, same issue has an article (pg 174) on two new voice recognition
boards (IBM compat)
All in all this was a GOOD issue (evan had a page on AREXX)! David M.
