Picture of THE FLASH!

As a matter of fact I *do* sit in front of the Amiga most of the
time I watch TV! I just don't have a frameGrabber. Again, nice job.
Why did you try to grab a picture of Plucky Duck in SHAM format? I
would think 32 colors would be a pretty good trade off of color and res. Of
course, if you had a HAM-E where I ->THINK<- you get 256 non-HAM colors on
the screen at the same time, that would be the mode of choice. BTW, did I
see your name in the "Corner" forum?
First off, I didn't grab it in SHAM, I grabbed it in IFF/HAM, GIFed it,
then converted it to SHAM (as I don't know of any way to convert HAM to
SHAM). Second, what's a HAM-E? Third, yep – I'm in the Corner quite a
bit, though I don't upload as much as I used to. Most of my uploads end up
either here, the Sci-Fi forum, and Comics/Animation forum.

I thought that was you in the "Corner." I never knew how SHAM pics were
that extends the number of colors on an A2000. I don't know all the
details but hang out at AmigaVend where there is a discussion going on
about it. HAM-E is made by Black Belt Systems. There is also talk about
it in AmigaUser.
BTW, you probably aren't gaining anything to go from HAM to SHAM, since
you've already lost some of the HAM fringing info. You're probably losing
even more going from HAM to GIF to SHAM, since GIF cuts the image down to
256 colors, and loses the rest.
Now if you went from 21 bit to SHAM, you'd probably gain quite a lot.
(Going to GIF first is iffy. You might end up with a better picture than
your HAM image that way, or you might not. Depends on how many colors the
original is really making strong use of…)
