#What's Happening?

It's beginning to look like they didn't ship on the 21st. UPS goes anywhere
in 7 days, USPS goes in less. Tell me I'm wrong. Please.
Bob.
Nothing in the mail out this way(Hawaii) thought my Visa was charged almost
1 month ago. Hopefully Imagine will help me forget this fact, but it's
gonna have to arrive soon to do that.
Well Tim, I'm sure that you and I, like many others, placed our
orders back in May for Imagine realizing that these guys were making
something that has not existed before. It's not like they are configuring a
data base application or making a new arcade game or something.
It's tough to predict how long it will take to make something that
there is no precedence for. And I also realize that the number of
programmers working on a project is inversely proportional to the time
required to complete it. Not to mention that Impulse is trying to make up
(thanks to Rick) for its dismal owners manual reputation.
But, bottom line, if I don't hear something that I can count on by
10/15/90 (Check deposit +45 days / 6 weeks), I going to get upset.
And Rick, if you are listening, I realize that you are not employed
by Impulse. But they don't speak here and you do. And you are an insider.
Can you tell us anything? As far as I have heard, nobody, dealers and
distributers included, have received a product.
Bob.
Hi Ho:
Has Any body tried to call the (800) number yet?
I called last week, and I was told Imagine started shipping on last Monday
(9/24/90). They said they still had a lot of orders to go through, and
they were getting them out as soon as they could. I *really* hope my order
went out last week, since I placed my order early…..and since my charge
card has Impulse's charge on it as of 8/28.
I'm planning on coming home during lunch tomorrow, and I'll post here if I
receive it by then.
Steve
Bob,
Yeah, I saw the features these guys were adding daily in August at
SIGGRAPH, and was more-or-less eager to let them continue awhile. But now
the card's been charged, which Mike said he wouldn't do until they were
within two weeks of shipping. I talked to him again at his offices on Sept.
13, and he said if everyone did their jobs, it would go out on the 21st,
and he seemed to be confident of that.
I know a lot of things have to come together at the end for a package to
make it out to the customers, but if thing drags out to, say, mid-Oct., I'm
gonna be pretty angry.
Though I'm sure as soon as I start playing with it, I'll probably forget
all about that. Probably.
What about it, Rick? What do you hear?
Karl
Karl, you should have Imagine at your door step this week. The program IS
shipping. Rick
Rick,
Well, since you either tell me the truth or don't say anything at all, I
now expect to indeed be Imagining this coming week. That's a relief; I was
afraid that Mike thought of something (besides boolean operations) that he
wanted to throw in before it went out. Glad to hear that I've wasted energy
getting irritated. It's just that, now that I've seen Imagine in action,
every time I use Silver, I get really impatient with it. (Like getting in a
rental car that only has an AM radio.)
Karl
Impulse, I have been reading the various messages on wether Imagine has
shipped or not shipped. Today is October 1st, and you guys charge my
charge card on August 29th (thats 1 month of interest i'm paying without
product!). I have been reading the various whispers here for the last three
months and I feel I've been pretty patient (as have everyone). I hope to
see Imagine this week and if I do I'll forget about becoming Impatient but
if I don't….Grrrrrrrr. Anyway I'll only say what that little boy used to
say in the sixtys when he wanted his hot oatmeal…………….. I WANT MY
IMAGINE!!!!!!
John Horton
Looks like you should see yours this week. I just got mine yesterday and
after playing around with it for a bit(like all night) things are really
fuzy about the whole credit card deal.
Tim..
Tim, Hope you are having fun with it….I'm still waiting and I wish my
mind was fuzzy after an all night session with Imagine. Let me know what
you think,
………………….John
So far so good. Just wish I had more time during the week to sit down and
tackle the whole thing. You can't even compare Imagine to TS as far as
interface goes. Imagine looks like it was made with the user in mind. Hope
you get yours soon so you see what I mean.
John,
You sent your message to me instead of to Rick, but he may see it
anyway.
Oh, by the way, Imagine has arrived.
Karl
Karl, Sorry to dump on you … Ricks message that I wanted to repond to was
one more to go after you. I hope he did see it. I consider you lucky since
I haven't received mine yet. Let me know what you think what you think of
it.
John
Bob, Imagine IS NOW SHIPPING. You and everyone here should have the
program at any moment. Thanks for your patience. –Rick
This is a little off the subject… but…
Tim, whats the scene with Amiga users like over in Hawaii? I will be going
there (as usual) in November and would like to check things out. I will be
at the Hawiian Princess in Makaha (I think thats the spelling.. I am not
sure 😉 )
-Troy
Well, staying off the subject(which I'm sure they don't mind around now).
The Hawaii Amiga situation is pretty good. I myself own an Amiga 2000
souped up with a GVP 030, and a few others I know have put some money into
their systems. The bigest problem here, is there is only one(yes one!)
Amiga Sale/Service Dealer. My opinion of them(and many others) is that
they would be better off selling IBMs. They can be rather rude and instead
giving the true facts about the Amiga, they bend the truth a bit. This
only frustrates people because they expect more out of the Machine then
what they get.(i.e. selling 500's(512K) and telling a customer it can run
any program out ther). Last time I was in there(around a week ago), they
had a FC24(2 meg) in their Amiga 3000. I tried to find out more about it
and get a demo, but the sales person was too busy playing with it himself.
He was sarcastic toward all the questions I asked, and couldn't even tell
me if it was a 1 or 2 meg version of the FireCracker. I had to call
Impulses 1-800 number to find out. Many other stores are trying to get
Amiga Dealership, but I have this feeling they are being black mailed by
the one and only. It pretty sad, because the Amiga could sell even better
over here with more then one dealer, (there are almost 1 million people on
this island). Anyways, if you get a chance call my BBS the Twilight Zone at
808-488-4979. It's an IBM board with an USR HST online, but I try very hard
to draw in and cater to Amiga users. It's Net/Node 029/004 if you gave
access to the GT-Power Network(GTPN).
Tim.. P.S. Sorry this was so long, but I am typing off my
frustration. Hopefully by next weekend I'll be too busy with Imagine to
even make it on here..
The dealers here in New Jersey are no much to talk about either!! There
are not too many either, maybe 3 – 4 or so.. Better going to NY since I can
get a better price, and it may be in stock also :).
By the way, what island and town are you in?
The island I live on is Oahu(The most populated). This is the island that
Honolulu and Wakiki is on as well as where Pearl Harbor is. I live is Aiea
which is like a stone throw from Pearl Harbor. Actually anywhere on this
island is a stone throw from Pearl. It's only about 50 miles from the
south shore to the north shore.
Tim..
Tim, I have been staying in Oahu (Makaha, Oahu) in a condo at the Hawaiian
Princess for the last few years. I stay there during Thanksgiving, and will
be there after Nov 19th this year also. It's great there, and I can't wait!
We go out for thanksgiving for dinner at Bobby McGee's, and hang out at a
place called "The fog Cutter" in Makaha (my father knows the owner). I like
it at Makaha because it's away from the tourist area, and the only condo's
that are less than 100 yards from the ocean! We used to go to a place
called the Tea Gardens (something like that) on the north side, but it was
under construction last year (new owners). It must be nice living there 🙂
-Troy
Great! If you get a chance look me up. I'm over in Aiea. My home phone
is 487-0547. Take it easy.
Sounds good.
