I am looking for a utility program that would allow me to write and read
MacIntosh disks on my Amiga. I guess since I have not seen any around,
this must be either difficult or impossible. I would like any information
anyone has on this. If you know of a program that allows this other than
AMAX ( I can't afford that!) I have some Amiga text files I would like to
transfer to the MacIntosh in my office. I guess I will end up transfering
them through my modems.

Macintosh disk drives are variable-speed. Amiga disk drives (and the rest
of the industry) are constant-speed. Reading / Writing Mac disks is
non-trivial. Readysoft's AMax II, it is said, accomplishes this miracle in
software. Central Coast Software's Mac-2-DOS accomplishes it by having you
plug a Mac floppy drive into the Amiga.

If you buy CrossDOS for the Amiga, which might cost you about $20, you can
write a 720K IBM PC format disk, which you can read on a Mac II with the
Apple File Exchange utility. If you're moving text, this will work fine.
