Greg, we spoke several months ago about the use of DEM's in 3DS. Here's an update on my progress if you are interested. I got the 12 DEM's covering Crater Lake NP pieced together. 1/2 came from USGS in feet, the others in meters. The conversion was not as clean as I would have preferred, but workable. My next step is to use a GIS system (IDRISI) to make some intermediate images for later use in 3DS, and to put the bathymetric data into the current image of the lake inplace of the lake surface as provided by USGS. The real work is about to start I think. I can make some changes mathematically, but will have to slog through most of it. More later. (good thing I don't do this for a living!) Does your company deal with video editing equipment? I was interested in developments in digital editing on a PC and have been trying to find out what might be out there and what kind of quality it is capable of. Right now my original footage is shot on Hi-band 8mm and I edit from my 2 hi band cameras through a WJMX-12 onto SVHS. Very labor intensive as well as taking lots of table space. It also doesn't produce the quality of final image I would like to see for this project I am doing on Crater Lake. Video suppliers I have spoken with don't seem to know anything about computer based editing other than the video toaster and I didn't spot anything in CIS's Broadcasting Professionals Form. I am pretty much committed to the IBM world as opposed to Macs or Amigas. I am hoping to use a PC so I can stay on the same machine I work 3DS on. Thanks, Dave
