3DS2 and EMM386

DOS 6's EMM386 should support 3DS even with the NOEMS switch, so long as
there is not also a NOVCPI switch in use. All earlier versions of EMM386 won't
provide VCPI. For QEMM, if you must have VCPI with no Page Frame, use
"FRAME=NONE FEMS".

I'm pretty sure that my experience was with Dos 5. Its good to see that there
are few good people that understand this memory thing <g>.

Well, you've already spent $3,000 on 3DS. Go ahead and spend the extra $80
($50 mail order) to get QEMM 7.1. It's WELL worth it! For example, imagine a
system with a Hercules Graphite, LANtastic client software, mouse, VESA, Delete
Sentry, anti-virus, ANSI.SYS, and lots of other stuff, plus FILES=75,
LASTDRIVE=T, LANcache, and several other potential memory hogs, plus DOS=LOW
(to free up the High Memory Area [HMA] for much better performance from
DesqView and Windows), etc. — and still have 634K of free conventional memory
under DOS! QEMM 7.1 can do that easily! MEMMAKER couldn't give you that much
memory even with ZERO TSRs and drivers, bare minimum FILES, LASTDRIVE, BUFFERS,
STACKS, etc., not to mention DOS=HIGH which keeps any other program from using
the HMA! You MIGHT get up to 621K with MEMMAKER. But expect 3DS to have
problems with it.
QEMM 7.1 rules!

Maybe you have me confused with someone else, I have always used Qemm. I
was only helping someone that had dos 5 and was using the dos memory
manager. I agree totally that Qemm is much better.

Sorry, Rick. I use CIM, and hit [Reply] after reading your message, so
it got addressed to you. I was, in fact, talking to the same person you
were talking to.
