Bob, I have had some problems with rendering to fields. It seems as if I get field 1, then 2, 3, then 1, … 2, 3, 4, then 2, … 3, 4, 5, then 3. Any ideas? All in all, I get better results when I don't render to fields. I thought the fields was supposed to make my animations look better not worse? I have a dq50p diaquest and a sony 5850 u-matic. Stephen Is there something I must adjust in my 3ds.set?

Have you tried doing rendering tests with your field-order switch in 3ds.set reversed? – G

Stephen: >>I have a dq50p diaquest and a sony 5850 u-matic.<< Glad to meet you! I'm using the same hardware setup as you. maybe we can share some ideas in the future. I render to fields all the time just by turning on the fields button. Never had a problem. The stills look bad but the video will look extra sharp and smooth. If I need stills I do a frame rendering in addition to the fields. Like in the first frame and the last frame I do to frame rather than to fields for the heads and tails recording process. If you are having problems then maybe we can compare 3DS set and targa+ configurations to get you going. Don Landis

Don, Likewise, glad to meet you! If you could send me your autoexec.bat, config.sys and 3ds.set files, we could start there. Send them to me e-mail. I think the problem is in the 3ds.set but I'm not sure. Is your Field-Order set to 0 or 1? Thanks! Stephen

Stephen: >> Is your Field-Order set to 0 or 1? Sony 5850 with DQ-50P and Targa or Vista is Field Order 1 (which is the 3D Studio default). Greg Pyros (who used to have the same system)
