I have misplaced my hardware docs on the GVP SCSI+RAM controller and need
to know the jumper settings for 0,2,4,6,8 MB settings.

J1 Controls the 4MB/8MB limit for PCMCIA cards.
Normally it should be set to ON to allow the
full 8MB of memory.
J2 Controls whether 1MB or 4MB SIMMs are installed.
ON means 1MB SIMMs
OFF means 4MB SIMMs
That's all there is to it. No need to worry about RAM configurations, just
SIMMs sizes and maximum RAM setting.
huh? I have the GVP SCSI Series II + RAM board. It can hold up to 8 1MB
SIMMS. What I need is the jumber settings for configurations of 0,2,4,6,
and 8 MB on the board. It doesn't take 4MB SIMMS. The board has standard
MAC style SIMMS in it right now configured with 8MB (fully populated). I
want to reduce that configuration.

if you are using a Impact Series II controller, the jumper settings are
as follows:
Memory SIMM Locations J5 J6 J7 J8 J9
0 MB None OFF OFF ON OFF ON
2 MB CN10-CN11 OFF ON OFF OFF ON
4 MB CN10-CN13 ON OFF OFF OFF ON
6 MB CN10-CN15 OFF OFF ON ON OFF
8 MB CN10-CN17 OFF ON OFF ON OFF
J5 through J9 are found in the block of 5 jumpers nearest the SIMMs.
You need to configure for at most 6 MB of RAM to work with a BB.

"There are five jumpers on the board below the word 'RAM'…The chart
below indicates the proper jumper settings:

BTW, how is Honolulu these days? Is the steakhouse down the street
from the Lollipop still open? (Still remembering the military discount).

Don't know where the Lollipop is but Buzz's Steak House has a couple of
locations now…if that's the one you mean. You hit that nail on the
head…I'm with the Navy out here. Sunny and warm the last few days, as
my red skin attests to…one of the benefits of working from dark to dark
inside a submarine for weeks and then finally getting a weekend off.
As for the thanks…well, I am just happy to be able to provide helpful
information once in a while…I am usually the one in need. Now if I
could just remember to check for other replies before I send mine.

yes, that's the place. I still remember spending time there with a
beautiful steak and lobster and a bottle of Mouton Cadet in front of me on
many a night. Heaven!
I also spent time in the Navy, but the other part, you know, targets
<grin>. Seven years on the USS Leftwich of which, three were spent in
Hawaii (we changed homeports from Scum Diego to Honolulu).
