HELP!
i just installed a Seagate ST11950NB drive. Capacity 1.7 gig. i am getting a
DOS box error msg while rendering. msg reads:
-ATTENTION: A serious disk error occured while
writing to drive D:
Retry (r)?-
Anybody else seen this?

It's got nothing to do with 3DS, Bill. You've got a serious disk problem.

When one of our machines had this problem, I REMed SMARTDRV.exe out of the
system and the problem went away. (I eventually replaced the drive.)
Though this may make this problem go away, this doesn't really solve your
problem. You most likely have a drive that about to croak. Get it looked at
before you really have a serious set back.

thanks to both u and gary for getting back to me.
this was a case of momentary lapse of consciousness on my part. i put in my
brand new drive without checking termination! so i had two drives terminated on
my chain.
