#GVP Board Update
9 messages in this thread
GVP Tech;
Greetings, I have a problem I hope you can help me correct. We
have an Amiga 2000 with a GVP G-Force 030. Model Combo30-40/40/4 MFG
code 0492, serial # 0038806 and it is stamped 40 MHZ. It has a 68882
FPU installed. It has an MC68ECO30 Processor which is what I am
concerned about. (Read ECO please)
We have ordered an Emplant and have been talking to Utilities
Unlimited about the configuration needed to properly run the Emplant
and were informed we needed a processor with an MMU. We understand
that the MC68ECO30 does not have the MMU that we need and that it
needs to be updated.
Please tell me what I need to do to update this unit and get an MMU ?
1. Can we use the existing board we have ?
2. Can we replace the MC68ECO30 with another XX68030 processor ?
3. Is there another newer chip that can be installed in order to give me
an MMU and speed up the whole thing ?
Thank you, I will be anxiously awaiting a reply.
Sincerely
GE "OB" O'Brien
GE,

Yes.

Yes.

The 40MHz 68030 chip is hard to find. You will have better success at
getting a 50MHz 68030 chip. You cannot, however, make the board run
at 50MHz. Running the 50MHz 68030 chip at 40MHz is fine.

Thanks for the rapid reply,
Got any ideas where I can trade in or purchase a 50 MHZ 68030 ??
Can I exchange one with you folks ??
thanks again

Its me again, Your right its hard to find. I've been on the phone to
all the major suppliers and they don't even list it ??
Would you provide me with a price for one, with or without an exchange.
I just tried calling you and the operator put me on hold and forgot me.
Please call me at (904) 994-6082,
Thanks

GVP TECH.
I am sending you this message again in case you didn't get it the first
time.
Could you please tell me if I can purchase a 40 or 50MHZ 68030 chip from
GVP ? If not, then where I might find one. Thanks again.
I don't know if you realize this or not but you sent that last message to
yourself. :>

I know it appears that way, but that was the header of another post
to GVP somehow it got garbled by me, my autopilot or cis ? I'll
blame it on the leprachauns or something. Any ways I'm still looking
for a reply fm GVP to two other posts. Guess I asked a real hard
question.
Hi, GE —
Resend your question to GVP but change the message title to a new one.
They apparently don't pick up replies to their replies, I recall them
saying more than once…

GE,
PMFJI, but I remember you posting a note looking for GVP SIMMS. I have 4
4MB SIMMS that will be available for sale at the end of September. If you
are interested, please leave me C-Mail at the following address.
