1. Does anyone know if there is a mouse driver that will allow a KURTA
digitizer
to work as a mouse driver in Animator Pro?
2. Is there a special driver designed to work with Matrox cards when running
Animator Pro or 3dStudio? Matrox' vesa tsr is not compatible with
Animator Pro nor 3dStudio – believe me, I've tried it on both programs.
Please help…thanks.3
Hi Paul,

>> I ran some tests with various digitizers and found that your best bet would
be to emulate a Summagraphic digitizer. There should be a section in the Kurta
manual that discusses emulation modes. You should also contact Kurta to see if
they have any special mouse emulation utilities.

>> If you're using the VESA driver that shipped with the board, I'd recommend
contacting Matrox's BBS to see if a newer driver is available. I ran into this
with their Illuminator board and 3DS. Another option might be to try the
UNIVESA tsr that is located in one of our library sections. (Sorry, I can't
remember which one, but a search will find it) The last thing I could offer
might be to try a third party driver like PanaMate or PanaRender from Panacea.
I hope this helps,
Bob
Thanks for your quick response Bob. I'm going to chk. out my Kurta manual. I'm
sure I can get it to emulate some kind of summagraphics mouse driver. And
regarding the vesa tsr, I've left a message on the Matrox forum and also
contacted their tech. support. I do know that I have the latest vesa tsr., and
I was told by their tech. support that their vesa tsr is designed for dos
games. If I want to view hi-res flic files, forget DOS and use windows. I
don't know how true this is but I'm still waiting a response from Dave White on
the Matrox forum. Now, regarding the univesa driver, I had down loaded that at
one time too. I'm hope I didn't erase it off my system since it had not worked
properly with a trident card I had. But thanks for the advice I'll try it with
the Matrox card before I spend any more money on getting other third party
drivers.
If you don't want to wait for Matrox to get back to you, try their BBS number:

You can scroll through and see if they've got any newer drivers for you board.

Paul,
You don't have to emulate the Summagraphics in AAPRO, just make sure the Kurta
is in relative mode. You can do this in the K_CONFIG program. Then it acts just
like a mouse. I've set up a Kurta XGT in relative mode and believe it or not, I
can run Windows, AAPRO, 3DS and many other programs WITHOUT having to change
configurations!
Thanks Jeremy for your reply. I'll try and see if I have my Kurta in relative
or absolute mode. The strange thing is that the digitizer does work on a small
portion 1/4 of the screen so I can really reacjh any of the pull downs with the
digitizer. But I'll chk. on the mode I'm in and maybe that'll solve the
problem. Thanks again.
