#Aircraft DXF / 3DS
10 messages in this thread
Does anyone know if there are any 3DS or DXF files of aircraft around? In
particular, I'm looking for fighters like the F-15 and F-22. I wnt to play
with them in 3D Studio, but building one from scratch is a bit beyond my
capabilities right now.
Matthew,
Viewpoint has some great models of fighters that range in complexity and price.
Their library contains mililtary, commercial, and private planes. The models
are usually broken up into logical objects that you can apply materials to
and/or animate. Also, if there are no models here on the ASOFT forum, you might
want to try the ACAD forum and look for some AutoCAD .DXF files that you can
import into 3D Studio.

Matt,
I've seen some up on Internet both 3DS and DXF. It was at
WUARCHIVE.WUSTL.EDU ftp site. If you have access to Internet drop me a line
and I get you the directory where their located.

If you could tell me that directory, that would be great!
Matt,
The FTP site is WUARCHIVE.WUSTL.EDU and the directory is somewhat long:
garphics/graphics/objects/chinalake/objects
Don't forget its cAsE sensitive.

The 3D Studio CD-ROM has various fighter models on it. Check out 3D Vision's
graphical catalogue of the CD-ROM meshes.

Check out the Rendering Plant BBS. It has many, many aircraft models on it in
3DS format. Give it a call at 816-525-5614.
I found very nice aircraft DXF at Hi-Lux BBS (415) 864-2434. It's a BBS devoted
to 3DStudio. And it's free !!!
Have a good call !
