Excuse my probably stupid question, but I still don't have 3DS and I must know the answer very soon (preferably yesterday…<g>). Is it possible to morph one object, say a text object, into an other object, say a space station, without having to fiddle around with vertices etc. for years? Any help would be welcome. Volker

>> Is it possible to morph one object, say a text object, into an other object, say a space station, without having to fiddle around with vertices etc. for years? Nope. It CAN be done (it doesn't take years), but it isn't a simple process. In fact, it may be easier to do it with a image processing package like Elastic Reality or Win Morph. It really depends on if you need the morph to occur while the camera moves around the object. Then you'll most likely want to do it in 3D. J-me

Jamie, its easier in image software, too, if the camera moves around the objects. Just create two animations with the camera moving around the same path for each morph object. Then use the image morph software to morph between the two animated sequences. The morph package has to support tga sequences, though.

Don, >> Then use the image morph software to morph between the two animated sequences. what morph package would you use, then? Volker

I have been using HSC Digital Morph and recently acquired Elastic Reality.

Is Elastic Reality a good program?

Haven't used it enough to give an opinion but I was very impressed with the demo and enough to buy it for future projects. I've just been too busy lately to play with it. If I get a job to do requiring it I guess I'll have to learn it real quick. <BG>

I missed some of this… what is Elastic Reality? Michele

Hi Michele Haven't spoken to you since that night at the party in Orlando. It was such a pleasure to meet you after all our correspondence on the book last winter. Elastic Reality is a Morphing/Warping and compositing animation program originally written for the SGI platform, then ported to the PC. There is also a low end version (lacks features) for the MAC. It is from the same company that used to be called ASDG, Inc. Don Landis

Was good to meet you too! Thanks for the info on Elastic Reality. Michele

Elastic Reality is a 2d morphing and compositing program from ASDG (now called Elastic Reality). It is an SGI application that was ported to MAC (crippled version) and now to Windows. It's pretty much considered the industry standard for film resolution and high end morphing and has some other cools effects. John Tissavary (LUNA cie, inc)

Jamie, >> image processing package like Elastic Reality or Win Morph. thanks for your answer. I have already assumed that, but now I know for sure. So it's manual work anyway… Volker
