I am having a strange problem and I'm not sure whether it's 3DS, Vibrant or hardware related. My old video board (Viper PCI) crapped out and it was replaced with a Stealth 64 (2MB). I have the most recent Vibrant drivers, ran 3ds vibcfg and all display modes look fine. When I play flics over a certain size, though, the machine wedges. For example, cymnstr.flc and thing2.flc are fine but shark1.flc slows way down then freezes and dino.flc won't even run, wedging straight away. This never happened with my Viper and that's the only part of my system that I've changed. Any thoughts? I'd greatly appreciate any help. Cheers, John

John: PMJI, I don't have an answer for you but I'm curious of the term 'wedge'. Could you explain? To add to the confusion, in Westchester county in New York State a 'wedge' is a submarine sandwich, a grinder, a hoagie, etc. Can we assume you are playing your flics out of 3DS? Do you get the same 'wedging' results when you run the flics through AAPLAYHI, AAPLAY, PLAY80 or AAWIN? Bob

They called wedgies 'melvins'. Now don't go asking about golden chunky swirlies or we'll gross out the whole forum. <G> Bob

Ted, believe it or not, the first term I heard for "wedgie" was hiny-biny!<g>. -Alan

All I can say is that it's not happening inside of 3DS. My guess is that the card isn't talking to the drivers in a healthy way. Ahh… hardware problems. What would life be like without them? (worth living?) – G

>>Ahh… hardware problems. What would life be without them? >> >>(worth living)? <GG> My hardware problems have turned into a bit of a soap opera… "As The Screen Turns" or "The Bold and the Crashed" <sigh>. Thanks for the other info too – I learn something new everyday. I'll contact the Vibrant folks. BTW I hope your break was a restful one. Cheers, John

We have had some problems with S3 flic playback, which should be fixed in 1.0.4 Chuck Walbourn – Vibrant Graphics

Sorry to say that I changed all drivers in 3ds vibcfg to 1.04c and still have the same problems. – John
