Sheesh, you kids! The first Comm program I used was Mite with my Kaypro 4-84's
killer 300bps modem! I had to whistle (you know how to whistle, don't you?)
into the reciever of the phone to get it to link with some of the BBSs I
frequented.
Man, was them the days. CI$ was just a lil' network that could. Now look at it!

Kids Huh ???? Maybe so but you have to remember that this 'puter
bidness is a post metaposal second childhood…..I mean like
sheesh…..I got kids older than your Kaypro………<grin>.
And my first comm program was XMODEM7 with a for real 1200 baud
partial Hayes compatable modem…..none of them acoustic jobbies for
me. We went first class.
Now if the modem happens to downshift to 9600 baud, I start getting
ansy 'cause it's taking so long.

Oh, it wasn't acoutic, it was internal! I had to pick up a phone on
the same line, to whistle it 'alive'.
Sorry to hear your kids are older than my Kaypro, they must never let
you get near your cpus at home.
The kids ain't no problem. They're gone, married (most of them
anyways) and having kids of their own. It's the grandkids that don't
let me at the 'puter……<groan>.
