I ordered MagicWB about 3 weeks ago by sending in the registration form and a US check for $20.00. Today the check and the registration form was sent back to me saying that my order couldn't be processed because my check was not made to the appropriate party. It didn't say to whom or what I should have made my check to. (I initially made it payable to SASG.) I sent my check to Robert Blayzor from Johnstown, NY. He is supposed to be a US registration site for MagicWB. Has anyone else had this problem and had it resolved? To whom should I be making the check out to? Is it Robert? If it is, why not SASG? Thanks for all responses since this is driving me crazy!! Mike

Just to share my MagicWB frustrations, I, stupidly, sent $20.00 cash to the author in Germany over a month ago and still haven't seen anything. If someone decided to pocket the cash, I have no proof and no program 🙁 JMC

Well, there seems to be a problem with the post office in the home town of Martin Hottenloher. People are suspecting that one of the employees there is stealing the registrations ! Nothing is proven yet, but investigations are running. The only way to be sure that your registration reached it's destination is to call the author and give him your name, so that he can look you up in his list. The same thing happened to me and the registration has vanished 🙁 Bye Alex

I have always been leery of sending cash in the mail, so I haven't ever registered any foreign shareware. But I love this SASG registration idea. I registered MagicWB and MUI at the US site and got my stuff in about 2 weeks. Excellent! I hope more shareware authors go with this method of registration. -Marty

Marty, I agree that SASG service is pretty good. I got Magicwb and MUI back in about a week from Germany. However, I think the CompuServe SWREG is the most transparent and hassle-free way of registering software and wished more authors used it. Pete, Yep, SWREG would work out great for us, but at least the SASG method works out for many others who simply BBS around without using CIS. -Marty

Hi Martin, well, this SASG policy is under very heavy discussion at the moment in the german shareware scene, because many people think that this isn't shareware any more, but just disguised commercial software. Especially the author of MagicWB is criticised, because he started to send the programs back with the note "postage to be paid by receiver" ! A lot of people didn't like that… If you are interested and speak german you can take part in this flame-war at de.comp.sys.amiga.misc and .advocacy 😉 Bye Alex
