#TOASTER – A3000
5 messages in this thread
I am thinking of adding a toaster to my A3000. Does anyone have any experience
with using a Toaster Cozzi or equivalent with the A3000?
I ran a Toaster2000 in my stock A3000 for over a year Fried the power
supply when I added a humongous GVP 040 accelerator, but an enhanced PS
from Micro R&D solved that problem. The new Toaster4000 will even fit in
an A3000 w/o modification to the case.
My recomendation: Forget the Toaster Cozzi or equivalent, unless you need
the space for TBC cards or something.

Thanks for the information. I did find out from another source that the PS in
the A3000 was inadequate. But was not aware that the 4000 toaster fit.
My other option is to upgrade an A2000 which I recently picked up. Sounds like
this may be the prefered choice.
Now , need to find a Toaster, an accelerator, and a MegaChip2000

Scott,
Ed Dolan at Premier Cruise Lines, 407 783-5061, (ext. ???) has two 2000's
one with Toaster and Progressive Peripherals accelerator ('040 at 50mhz?),
plus other things. I believe he'll sell the boards separately. He's
there MON-FRI. I didn't discuss prices since I have all of the 2000's I
need.

The A2000 is best for a studio/production environment (because of the
larger case & more slots), while the A3000 is best for 3D/LightWave work
(because of the built in flicker-fixer & ECS chipset).
With 3.5, and a 40Mhz accelerator, the A3000 runs faster than my 4000 with
similar CPU card & slower RAM.
