#CD-ROM & GG
5 messages in this thread
Hi,
I need some info on how to access a CD-ROM drive from my Golden-Gate PC
board. I have the drive working on my 3000. What do I need to access it on the
GG side.
Thanks for your help.
Hi Paul,
I'm sure that you should get a more detailed reply here, but I'm running a
CDROM off my GG486SLC… You need a scsi controller & to add the device to you
auto.config, I think are the main things.
I can get the details from my setup if you like.

Well, right now I have a SyQuest drive connected, which is SCSI, to my Ami0 and
that is what I use for my PC drive.
The SCSI is built into the 3000 so I should not need a card, but maybe I need a
SCSI device driver on the PC side.
Hi Paul,
Hmmm… good point. – Right, I have an AMiga SCSI _and_ a SCSI controller on
the GG side. ( GG support in NY had provided me with an A/B switch to change
between the Amiga side & PC side.
– So, I've never needed to access the CDROM through the Amiga SCSI controller.
So, personally I don't know if its possible although theorectically it should
be.

Paul,
I have the same problem and could not yet solve it. The hotline in Flein
(Vortex GmbH) told me, it can't be done, the BIOS would need to be
modified.
On the other hand, I operated a SyQuest 3270S as "Amiga Partition" without
problems. This is done via Amiga file system, however, whereas the CDROM
is operated via an _own_ file system (AmiCDROM).
Possible OS3.1 helps, where CD drives are accesible from the _Amiga_ file
system?
