#TurboCalc User?

I've been trying out TurboCalc Demo, recently uploaded here. I'm
interested in finding users of the non-demo version to ask a few questions
about such things as problems, bugs, and the like.
I've been using SuperPlan (SP) for years, liking some features and hating
others. TurboCalc (TC) seems to have good file handling, graphing, and is
visually pleasing. I can't test printing, or complex functions (since I
can't save or print from the demo) and am curious about quality of output
on 24-pin B&W printers, reliability of saved data, and so on. I run a
one-person office, and need to keep reliable client billing in an
easy-to-manage fashion. I am also VERY interested in the database aspects
of TC and the word-processor aspects as well. (The more TC can do to act
as a "suite" the more I am interested in it…)
So, if you use TurboCalc, please speak up…

Hello Ed,
I am using the German TurboCalc version for more than a half year in
the company of my parents.
I am printing on a 24-pin B&W printer (Fujitsu DL 1200) with 360*360dpi.
I bought the needle printer because I can print on papers which are
larger then DINA 3. Yesterday I printed 16 DINA3 pages in graphic mode.
The quality is not bad if you are using compugraphic fonts and the print-
out is much better if it is smaller than it is on the screen.
Please dont ask how much memory it needs.
The quality of the the printout is not as good as a printout from
PageStream.
I did not test the database aspects, because I have a extra database
programm.
The German TC version included some demos for billing, database etc.
The Arexx port is not bad.
I think the program is almost the best you can get for your job.
If you want to use TC for buisness I would recommend at least AGA Chipset,
68030, 4 MB ram, muliscan monitor (640*480 or 640*400) and a harddisk.

Many thanks for your comments on TurboCalc. The demo version I
downloaded from here has about a dozen demo graphs, databases, and
spreadsheet layouts, all helping me to see how it looks, and it looks very
nice, on the screen, anyway. Good to know that printouts are acceptible to
look at.
One thing I can't seem to figure out with TC — say, for example, you
have entered a long formula in a cell and then see that there is an error
in it. How do you correct it? Must you retype the whole thing? (In
SuperPlan, which I now use, there is a two key command [/e] to go into
"edit" mode where you can either over-strike or insert what you then type
on the keyboard.)
Also thanks for your recommended system for running TC — I have AGA,
68030, 4 MB RAM and all the rest…
If you think of things that TC doesn't do, or doesn't do well, feel
free to let me know…

No, you can correct the the formula by going to the cell and clicking
the mouse pointer to the line which is over the small icons, correct the
fomula(you can use the left and right cursor keys) and hit return.
This will work in the demo version, try:
cell A1 "1"
cell A2 "0"
cell A3 "=A1/a2"
then there(A3) will be "#DIV/0", go to cell(a3), the real contents will
be in the line over the small icons. Correct it, by replacing "/" with
"+" and press return. The correct result will be displayed in the cell
A3 now.
The things I dislike are: All diagramms will be printed with a reso-
lution of 640*400, TC is with 256 colours and some Compugrahic fonts
a little bit slowly. The Charts printed dont look as nice as the charts
produced on a MAC or PC, as some functions are missing.

Many thanks ("veilen danke"?) for the tip on how to edit cells in TC,
and for your thoughts on graphing with this program.
I am going to continue to play with it a bit more, so you may find me
asking you more questions. I am still undecided about buying it — one
problem is that I have thousands of files created with SuperPlan that I
will not be able to read into TC directly, as I understand it.
