I just retried QB 6.01 on 3.1. This time it worked. Note that since the
last time I have reformatted the HD added another HD and reloaded 3.1.
The other things I did different this time is:
1) I ran QB from floppy.
2) I issued the DCOFF to the tape drive before I did the backup.
(gvpscsictrl DCOFF 4 on my system – it is turning off the disconnect
feature of the tape drive scsi unit. Since there is no RDB on the tape
drive, GVP rquires a special command to tell them how to handle disconnect
for non-RDB thype scsi devices.

What Amiga are you using and what is the kickstart level?
There have been problems reported with tape backups on A3000's with KS
version 40.70.
