#Syquest ? and !

I've got a simple question and a few comments about my Syquest 270.
Since installing it my hard disk led, on the system unit, flashes about
once every 1 or 2 seconds, why? I imagine that it's doing some sort of
notify or query, but…
I really like this drive (external via a GVP Series II on a A2000 etc.).
Easy installation, since there were no relavant Amiga instructions or
files except for the SCSI address setting. I got the right cable, plugged
it in, turned it on, and it works great!
They supplied two disks for the PC/DOS installation and had a 16k readme
file for installation on a PC. I thought I'd suggest it to people at work,
but no way I've been through way too many hassles like that on the DOS
machines at work.
It's just too damn bad that everyone (general PC user) thinks that you
must take your system unit in to a service tech to get something added. I
can do it on PC, but it's sure alot easier on mi-Amiga.

Those flashes are poll's to see if the cartridge has changed.

I have a question about Syquest drives as well…
A friend of mine has an external that he brought over to my place to hook
up (for moving lots of graphic files). When we hooked it up to the
system, nothing. The same drive used to be hooked up to this machine,
however, as I bought my 2000 from him when he bought a 3000T. The only
change I've made is adding an extra hard drive (internal).
Oh, sorry, I also re-installed WB and such to start from scratch, but from
what I understand, that shouldn't make any difference, right?
Maybe the hard drive you added has the same SCSI address as the Syquest.

Make sure the SCSI ID on the SyQuest isn't the same as one of your hard
drives. If there are no ID conflicts it sounds like your SCSI chain is
terminated before the SyQuest. If you need more help tell me your exact
configuration I can be more specific.

Yeah, but who's polling what? The drive itself ought to know when it's had
it's cartridge changed and I haven't changed anything in my setup other
than the drive. Well, I did add SCSIMounter, but it flashes with out that
running. As long as it's normal, no biggie, but it is kind of distracting.
I'll get used to it.

Robb, mine flashes too. I assume it's polling for disk status, like in
the floppies. Love that Syquest!
