#(not) connecting a cdrom
2 messages in this thread
I have recently bought an Oktagon 2008 harddisk controller and software
and fitted it to a standard Amiga 4000/040.
The board is fitted with an internal Seagate hard drive and connected to
an external Quantum hard drive. Both have been configured and work
perfectly with the controller.
I am trying to connect and use an NEC CDRom drive 2101.0, supplied as a
package with Xetec software, with this controller. In spite of spending a
good deal of time and effort of a number of people I have found not
succeeded even with no other drive connected to the board and with every
combination of settings suggested. The drive and cable work perfectly
with a GVP scsi controller in another A4000.
The drive is interrogated by the supplied HDInstaller for the Oktagon but
no data appears. The Xetec installer software can find the drive on the
scsi bus correctly but installing just results in an icon with no address
Has anyone had similar experiences that they have solved and if so, how:-)

Mike,
I have exactly the same problem with the Oktagon 2008. I have tried three
difference cdrom software packages to no avail. I just saw a reference to
the fact that the Oktagon card won't work with cd. I thik it was in Amiga
Format. I'll check.
