I haven't had occasion to use decals yet, but the few times I have tried it, I haven't been able to make it work. Example: I created a decal image in Animator Pro. with a black border so that pixel at 0,0 is black and saved it as a cel file making sure that I leave a black border around the image. I create a bottle object I applied Green Glass material to the object In the materials editor I assign the map to Texture 1, CLick on 'S' to get mapping parameters, then click on the Decal button. I save the material. Going back to the 3D editor, I add cylindrical mapping to the area I want the decal to appear. I apply the decal and render. Result, I get the decal and the rest of the object disappears. The first applied material does not show. I try reapplying the first material, then the decal disappears. There is obviously some step I am missing. Can anyone help? Jim Hawkins

It sounds like your attempting to assign two materials to an object. Objects can only have one material, you need to create your decal material such that it has all of the attributes of green glass as well as the decal texture map. Use you green glass material as a starting point in the materials editor, then assign texture 1 as the decal bitmap. Should work fine. m.

Jim, The decal needs to be part of your green glass material not seperate from it. In MatEd, Get the material Green glass – now get your decal and assign it. Now assign the ONE material to your bottle. It should work just fine. To adjust the map once you've assigned coordinates use the UV coords in the Mat editor – much easier. Dave Mennenoh
