#VP<=>PAR Problem

Thanks for the ideas. Think I had most of that covered, though. Turns out this
is a bit weirder than I thought this morning: now the PAR appears to be telling
3ds that the anims are 2 frames long. Kinda makes it reeeel hard to composite
(looping 150 times over a 300 frame spot, hard to grab that little black spot
right next to the red one, etc.). The Purple Bible has been some serious wear &
tear today, and I'm still baffled. The only place I can find where I might
have deviated from SOP is in naming the file: Instead of rendering to a full 8
character name and letting 3ds truncate it, I rendered the targa frames to
ASDF0000.TGA (the .ANI in my first note was referring to the way the files
appear on the PAR's file window. Made absolutely no sense to put it in there –
we'll chalk it up to caffine deprivation error). Anyway, once again I'm at a
loss, and entreat ye mighty gods of PAR to look upon my humble self with
compassion, benevolence, and an answer if ya got one. I'd appreciate it.

PS – The animations run fine from the PAR. Just won't import.
A little experiementation has shed no light on this whatsoever. Oh, well. The
naming convention has no effect – allowing 3ds to truncate the name still gives
me two frame animations. Also, a small animation on my DOS drive is read by VP
without any problems (all frames accounted for). Sort of narrows it down to
the PAR, eh? Too bad I don't have the space on my DOS drive to save off 300
frames.
Help. Anyone. Please.

I'm not exactly sure what problem you're having, but if you're laying
frames to the par and then trying to pull them off as tga's for a background in
3ds, then you HAVE to use an IFL listing the tga's that you want to pull from a
par anim. 3DS will read every frame twice leaving you with every other BG frame
in your composite if you use the "incremental" method of reading tga's off the
par drive. If you just use an IFL as the background and set the PAR for
"filename", all should work fine.
If I totally missed the point here, then just ignore me…. I think I
missed the beginning of the thread.
