Can anyone please tell me the requirements to ensure that if I purchase a used copy of 3DS privately, I can get it registered and updates will be availible to me. Any pitfalls to purchasing used? assuming all material is original and not corrupted. Thank you.

i, << Any pitfalls to purchasing used? >> You should verify with Autodesk that the copy is legal and upgradable. There are/have been copies of 3ds sold into the educational market that are definately not upgradable. jonas[adesk]

To verify if the 3DS license is still a valid upgradable copy, call Autodesk Customer Service with the serial number at 800-538-6401, or drop me an email (never post license serial numbers publicly). If you buy, make sure you get the original diskettes, documentation, and hardware lock (if it's R2.0+). Registration can be transferred to you. In any case, buying software through a source other than an Authorized Autodesk Multimedia Reseller is a buyer beware situation; your risk. Regards, Jeff Eisel
