Hi. I am experiencing what seems to be a bug with 3D Studio v3, and I wonder if I can get help with this — When I try to render some objects that I have created (either in the Shaper, or imported from Aldus Freehand) I get the error message "Invalid Normal Array" and the render is aborted. Invariably I find that my at least one object in the scene now has jagged, garbled lines emanating from it. The jagged line problem will also appear at times if I try to move, or rotate one of my objects. Any ideas? Thanks, in Advance. — Scott Sorkin

Scott, That sounds like a copy of 3DS R3 I saw that had the copy protection disabled with a "pirate patch". 3DS ran fine for a few minutes, but soon the mesh got garbeled–sprouting faces everywhere and the program would abort part of the way through renders with the message, "Invalid normal array". –Donald

Your 3DS.exe has become corrupt due to a virus, hardware failure or a process which inadvertantly adulterated the executable. Check your system for virus', verify your hardware, and reinstall 3DS from your original install disks. If, after this, you are still having this problem, contact your dealer for a new set of floppies. -b
