#Inside 3DS path
7 messages in this thread
Hello Steven,
Thanks, I move the spiral tunnel, and I will re-do the scene. Inside
3DS is a great help. Phillip Miller contacted me as well. This forum is tops!
I did run the keyframer after assigning the path to the spiral and it
took off following the path. I was pi..ed. I can't wait until inverse
kinematics comes along. I have run it on Alias 5.0 and it takes a while to set
up, and get working. You see, I want to animate a guy walking up spiral stairs.
So now I have a path for him to follow.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Sanford,

You are refining the right skill set for the near future. Creating and
modifying multiple paths is key! I'm very thankful for the shaper/lofter and
now Tempo to aid in this. Consider the number of seperate paths that hands,
feet etc take in a simple backward flip off a diving board including the path
of the board as it interacts with the human and then how it flutters inbetween
jumps….
If all of these paths influenced the resultant animation of a hierachical tree
then indeed this is a skill that must be mastered..
Keep it up..
By the way, once your path is in the Keyframer and you've turned on its
display, you can move the entire path by holding down the Alt key while using
Paths/Move Key.

Yoicks! I missed that one. You WILL be putting that tip on the Prompt Line in
R4, right?!
You're the first person to ask for it on the prompt line, so your request goes
on the wishlist for R5. (Actually, the Alt key concept applies to all of the
Keyframer Move/Rotate/Scale adjustments, and it's a pretty abstract concept to
include in the prompt line — unless we had a scrolling prompt line so we could
explain everything. <g>)

Uh, ok. That says something about MY familiarity with the KF!

Well, maybe an abbreviated thingy to indicate "there're some OTHER options for
this here function."
I dunno–I agree you can't "explain everything," but the presence of "Shift =
clone," et al, in OTHER prompts lulled me into NOT finding or even exploring
for further function with this feature. Just a thought.
You're right that there should have been a mention of the Alt key on the prompt
line. We'll keep it in mind for future releases (though it's too late for R4).
