That's right- but did you both know that their is a mammoth
anthracite coal deposit along the susquehanna river
near Harrisburg: in a very sparsely populated region that
would supply the USA'S energy need for the next 2 centuries
and then some. Just found out about it through a course I took at Lebanon

How convenient – maybe they could convert Three Mile Island to burn coal!

The only commercial nuclear plant in OR (Trojan) was just shut down a little
while ago. There was some talk about building a natural gas fired steam plant
and use the existing turbines to generate power, but nothing seems to have
come of it.

I hadn't heard about this. It seems a little South and West for such an
extensive anthracite seam. Please tell me more.
Welcome to the forum! A large Anthracite deposit on the Susquehanna? That's
interesting, do you happen to know which mining company holds the reserves?
Anthracite isn't burned in the US's powerplants, it other more important uses.
They use it mainly in steelmaking, and in filter media. The deposit should help
the region if it is mineable.
