To anyone who can help: I can't seem to get my ToasterPaint AREXX programs to work, specifically, the action codes that will actually get it to "do something." Both my programs and the samples included with TP don't work. When I TRACE any of these programs, the action codes produce no errors, but worse yet, no action! Also, identical functions from the included samples produce syntax errors when copied into my own AREXX programs but not in their original files. I sent this same plead to the Help! section if you want to check the responses.

It would help if you could post a short example of the ARexx programs you're trying to run, together with the TRACE output. If the ARexx program is issuing commands without error, that would indicate that the command host (the TP program) is at least available. (Commands issued to an unknown host result in an immediate error.) Similarly, if you post a brief example of a program copied from an example that is causing syntax errors, someone here may be able to point out the problem. -Bill Hawes

There are MAJOR quirks in TPaint's ARexx, which actually predates ARexx… 1) NEVER have options results on .. it makes things just not work. 2) going from the switcher to launch tpaint is problematic, cause the command to launch tpaint doesn't return until tpaint is unloaded… making it useless without a clever trick to start the tpaint rexx as a separate script task, which then polls the existance of paint's port. 3) The toaster will close the workbench screen unless a shell or something is opened. If you go into paint with the WB closed, there will be no way to run the script*, since you can't flip screens back to the wb screen and shell. You'd have to go back to switcher, back out to wb, open a shell, back to switcher then into paint. *there is a keyboard.txt file which assigns commands to keys. By editing this you can create short sets of commands which will be tied to key inputs. This is not a script mechanism since happy things like variables and math and other operations aren't supported. Good luck.
