Re: ASCII Support
In addition to the gradual removal of ASCII from the Service, we are
introducing our HMI interface and programming to many other developers to work
with us. Especially since the Amiga Forums are so active online with
CompuServe, we are pretty confident to come up with a fix for all of our non
HMI users by the time there is complete removal of ASCII.

No problem with posting your message, Jim. We always want to know what CIS has
to say about our problem!
I still think that the most promising of all the replies we have received was
the one to Andrew Letchford, from which I quote a bit:

I've not yet heard what Mr. Snell's decision was, so I believe that he has not
yet decided. Until the decision is made – and we hope it will be FOR us — we
can only wait and hope – and write, I suppose.
There have been so many polite, well-written messages that CompuServe just HAS
to pay attention, whatever their final decision might be. If our letters had
been angry and accusative, I don't think we would have come nearly this far.
The reply you received seems to emphasize that someone up there is truly
considering the Amiga for inclusion in the HMI development, don't you think?

I read the reply to Mr. Letchford from Lex Crosett and was a little
encouraged by it but would still like to send him and perhaps Jim Snell another
letter. Do you have their CIS Id #'s? In the letter an email address is given

relations<<, is this correct? I did not think that names were being used yet?
Personally I would prefer that Aforums stay ASCII and that the Amiga (and
AutoPilot) would also be able to access all other areas via the HMI protocol
interface, if this is possible. I think that Amiga users must express the fact
that even if CIS decides to keep the Amiga Forums ASCII, that we will not be
pacified and content. We want equal access to all areas of CIS, that's what we
are paying for!

Certain members of the CompuServe staff have been using names in mail for quite
some time – perhaps for testing…I don't know. But the mail ought to reach
him if you address it to CSI:J.SNELL, just as it was given.
It does appear that they are thinking seriously about letting us have HMI,
and this is SO encouraging! I know that your letters are always positive and
polite – and that's the kind that have been getting us somewhere in this
campaign of ours. And you are right – we don't want to be cut off from the
rest of CIS, even if they do let us keep this forum in ASCII. I suspect
everyone in this forum enjoys a number of others, as well.

David, I believe the entire address is CSI:J.SNELL. Note that it is CSI, not
CIS. Sorry, I don't know Mr. Crossett's address. It is most likely to be
CSI:L.Crossett – but I don't know that this is it.
