#IPAS upgrades for 3DSmax
5 messages in this thread
There are two IPAS routines I am preparing to purchase, but I am concerned that
if I purchase them and then upgrade to 3DSmax I will no longer be able to use
them. Does anyone know if existing IPAS will work with 3DSmax or if upgrades
might be offered??? Specifically I am concerned about Metareyes and MeshPaint
3D.

Milner as far as I know they are not going to be compatible because of the new
IPAS architechure of the MAX's plug-In's. The MAX will use CORE COMPONENTS and
a new type of Plug-In specifically designed for MAX. For more info use the
keyword MAX in the ADesk Multimedia forum. As far as upgrading……????

Hi there,
This month's Planet Studio magazine says the there will be upgrades paths for
almost all of the R4 IPAS routines. So I would say go ahead and get them. The
R4 routines will not work with MAX.
Who would want them? They're 16-bit and MAX will be 32-bit! Speed is Life! How
about Max on a Quad DEC Alpha!
Bye!
I can say for certain that MeshPaint will have a MAX version but I can't speak
for Metareyes. We can only hope.
Well, I posed the question and now I have some answers…
According to Positron Publishing, MeshPaint 3D is being upgraded for 3DSmax.
The cost of the upgrade should be about $50 or so.
According to Schrieber Inst., MetaREYES is also supposed to be upgraded, but no
pricing information is available yet.
Thanks for the responses, Russ
