not sure if original message got thru.
when i combine two flics together in video post, then render as a flic file, it
creates .tga files in the 3ds3/temp directory, causing me to run out of disk
space.
is there any way to avoid creations of these temporary .tga's.

Change your palette to either medium or custom. It sounds like you are using
"high", which will render those peskie targas and reduce the flic colors after
the entire video post sequence.
