I recently had a client ask me about doing a jigsaw puzzle animation for an
industrial video. It seems like 3ds would be a great way to do this but I'm not
sure exactly how. I was wondering if anyone has done a similar effect and would
have any suggestions.Basicly I need to image-map a photo onto an object( a flat
square) and somehow divide that object into jigsaw pieces retaining their parts
of the mapping images. Could this be done without a specialized IPAS? Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Easy. Create the puzzle in the shaper, loft the pieces assembled, and map the
image on to it at that time. In the keyframer, leave frame 0 alone
(important!) and animate and render the range from 1 to wherever.

Greg-
Thanks again for the info-I had been trying to solve the problem backward-that
is -trying to figure out how to cut an object into pieces after
creating a single object and mapping it. This should make things much
easier!
Thanks again-
