Hello, I've got a perplexing problem. I'm new at 3ds, so it probably is a simple problem to fix. I'm tyring to output a 3ds version 3 image to a tif file to manipulate in photoshop. Eventually, this image will become part of a printed brochure, so I need high resolution. Problem. I can't get an output of any resolution but 800 by 600. That translates to about 2" long when I set the proper DPI (Dots Per Inch) in photoshop. I need it at least 6"! I've tried setting the size to 3000 x 2000 x 1 and many other combinations, but when it renders, 3ds changes my settings to 800 x 600 and gives me the same size. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I need an image 6" long by 300 dpi, and I need it by monday! Is it a driver or display setting I don't know about? Thanks in advance for your help. Ken

Ken, >> I've tried setting the size to 3000 x 2000 x 1 and many other combinations, but when it renders, 3ds changes my settings to 800 x 600 and gives me the same size. It sounds like you're still rendering to screen, which causes the screen resolution settings to override the settings you manually put in. Go to Render -> Setup -> Configure and select the NULL device instead of your regular display, and you should get what you want. You won't see it on your screen as it renders, though. John

This is an easy one, Ken. Set up everything as you were(resolution and all) and before you render, activate the "No Display" button by clicking on it. You should be good to go. What's happening is that even though 3DS is trying to render at your resolution, you're also telling it to render to your display(evidenced by the activated Display button). This button will always take precedence over your settings for resolution. Hope you get this before it's due! Jh
