Hey Kyle, I've got 2 mammoth jobs that need to be created in NTSC and I was wondering if you could spend a sec to explain your wired format to me ( a lowly PAL animator). How does drop-frame work? What is it? All we do is render at 25 fps and that's it but I believe your system is more convoluted than that. Can you help? Thanks in advance.. Glenn Melenhorst -Zephyr-

Glenn, 29.97 fps is the actual frame rate of NTSC video. Since much CG animation is renered to 30 fps, you end up losing (dropping) 18 frames for every 10 minutes of animation. (18000 frames rendered = 17982 frames displayed.) All of the work I've done has been short-format (i.e. 5 min or less) and losing < .333 of 1 sec has not been a major issue for me. So, I can't really expand much on the in's an out's of longer format animation for broadcast. -Kyle
