#Dual Pentium???

Hi, What do you think of dual Pentium? How much do I gain comparing to a P133 if the dual is two P100. How about NT, is it the right choice? I`m going to run 3DS R4 and AcadR13. What is 3D-Studio MAX, is it the next version of 3DS or?? Thanks for your advice/Joakim

Don't buy the second CPU until you have software that can use it. Dos will not use the second CPU, NT will. >> How about NT, is it the right choice? I`m going to run 3DS R4 and AcadR13. << NT is a great choice if you are planning to move to MAX (a new version of 3ds for NT). I don't know if acadr13 runs on NT. You could wait on NT if you have no software that runs with it. Martin

Thanks Martin, Acadr13 do run under NT. Has MAX already come out or will it soon? I`m going to buy NT directly when I buy the Pentium so I should begin to call dealers here in Sweden for the price on duals. Cheers/Joakim

Now I have a problem. I need help in deciding which Pentium to buy. If I buy a Dual P then I can only get two 100 MHz. Cause it hasn`t come out on the market here yet. Or I could buy a P133. What would you suggest??? Happy for help/Joakim 🙂

I have been waiting to buy a new PC for some time. I was planning on ordering in September, probably a dual 133 Mhz Pentium with NT installed. However due to the announced release period for 3DS MAX, I will wait until then to buy a new PC, meaning first quarter of 96, I'm just investing in some SCSI harddisks at this time instead of a new PC. In the beginning of next year I guess we are going to be able to get much more then just dual 100 or 133, I'm quite sure about that. + I think 3D Graphics accelarators will start storming the market by the end of the year. So I decided to wait until MAX is released to go NT, I could benefit right now, but I am not in a position to invest into a new PC every 4-6 months, lets say more 12 to 18 months is what I can do, so I guess time is on my side. I still can do my job with the equipment I have at this time. Christophe Van Oyen

Joakim, >> dual 100 or single 133 ….. What would you suggest??? << if you have to buy now, I'd get the 133 because you can use the speed now. In a few months when you can use the speed you could upgrade the motherboard to a dual 133 and add a second CPU.

While ACAD does have an NT version, note that it currently DOES NOT have multi-threading or long-filename support, nor will it take advantage of multiple CPU's (although I suppose if you launched two copies, NT itself might assign one copy to one CPU and one to the other…). Dave

Hi everyone, I think I`ll do as Martin suggested, buy a dual Pentium motherboard and get me P133 and then when I want to upgrade I might add on another P133. That sounds like a smart move. Do anyone no if next version of Acad will be "optimized" for NT like 3DS MAX. See ya/Joakim
