#PAR access on WIN95

Yeah, I'd be glad to upload the NT stuff. I was p-o'ed that they weren't on
DPS's BBS, when I had heard they were, and on a hunch, checked out the FTP
site.
There aren't any docs w/ them, but here's some of what I found:
1)When you de-compress them, two dir's are created: DLLS and DRIVERS. The
DLLS dir contains 1 file. I copied that to my WINNT35\system32 dir. I
put the other files in a PARNT dir. I used RUN to start the PAR.EXE
program, and it said something about the .DLL not being properly
installed, but then it apparently took care of whatever needed to be done.
2)DO NOT select the UNERASE option off of the next to last pull-down! When
I did, it threw me out to a white-on-blue text screen, and locked up the
machine. To get NT working again, I had to use the "LAST KNOWN GOOD
SETUP" option!
3)On the VCR controls, there are single-frame forward and reverse buttons —
but they act weird. Clicking once will cause the movement for 4-6 frames,
not one — and then just sliding the pointer across the button makes it
visually depress, but with no action. Clicking on any button then stops
this from happening.
I'm uploading the file, called PANTI136.EXE, to Lib 3, Hware/OpSys/Video.

Couple of questions on teh PANTI136.EXE library file. I cannot just release it
to public view since it is off of an ftp site and belongs to DPS. We need their
specific permission to copy it. Can you have someone at DPS drop me an email
giving permission? or is there someone from DPS on here?
Second – the message you posted (187693) should be included with the library
file as a readme so that members downloading the library file in the future
will have the answers to the problems you have solved.
I stuck this out on the public part of the forum in hopes that DPS might see it
and give the okay.

I _did_ hesitate for a moment before uploading this, but as DPS has uploaded
drivers here in the past, and as it is useless without owning the product — I
went ahead.
I'll email Brick Eksten of DPS and see what he says.

have Brick Eksten just email me himself if you want to cut back on your time.
Or maybe just give me his UID? hate to have you spend your time on this.

I got PANTI136.zip off of DPS' FTP site but it doesn't help for Win95. It keeps
saying it can't find dpspar.sys even though it's right there. Oh well, I was
just hoping the NT drivers would also work in 95. Of course not.
Anyway, I really wish I could get this to work under 95. Maybe it's off to get
NT. Now that I've had a small taste of 32bit OS I don't think I could go bact
to WFWG. 95 really is a lot more responsive than 3.11 and I like the new
interface. If you find anything out regarding getting the PAR up under 95 I'd
sure appreciate hearing about it. Thanks.

Did you see Gus Grubba's message about using the PAR under Win95? His message
doesn't talk about actually playing the PAR from _Windows_ so much as getting
the whole DOS set of drivers/programs to run in a DOS box.

I've managed to get the Par and 3ds working in the DOS mode of W95. But it
dumps my CD ROM. Any suggestions

I'm afraid I don't. I've not got Win95 loaded (I just have the two Preview
Program versions, anyway). Your best bet would probably be to re-boot (well,
Startup/shutdown/restart machine), hit F8 when you see the "Loading Windows
95…" message, and select the "Start w/ old version of MS-DOS" (or whatever
it's called) option — provided that you installed it over an old DOS drive, as
opposed to getting it brand-spanking new on some machine. This will boot with
your old version of DOS, and load your old autoexec.bat and config.sys.
