Hello again. Now I've tried running a flic rendering session in the background and opening a 2nd session of 3ds to try some more tutorials. Unfortunatly, after finishing a rendering in the tutorial session and returning to the original rendiering session I got the error message "flic file not open for rendering" where upon the redering promptly exited leaving me in the 3d editor. I don't suppose there is away around this? Can I have 2 sessions using the render flic commnad sumultaneously? Am I asking too much? regards, Peter Landeck

I had set up a separate directory structure for my background session of 3ds. I still pointed map-path wise to the original directories. You may want to try this as then the flic temporary files will be in separate directories for the two sessions. Just remember that 3ds was never set up to do any of this. As Gary Y. once said, it's remarkable that it works at all. Good luck, LAM

Larry I do not know if this will work but how about install a second copy of 3DS on your computer. (I know this is not why Multitasking and takes a lot of disk space) install the second 3DS as just a rendering 3DS with all pointer to the Main 3DS. This might allow you to work in one without the second 3ds to get in the way. Ray
