HELP ! Trying to locate a software package for 3 D MECHANICAL drawing and animation. Must run on a 486 and prefer cost effective (price in 3 digits). will be used to construct animation for training in the use of mechanical devices. Will be used in a windows environment. Any suggestions would be appreciated. (WAY out of my realm). Chuck

>Must run on a 486 and prefer cost effective (price in 3 digits). 3D studio is not an option here (at least for the 3 Digit part.) I suggest trueSpace 2.0 from Caligari corporation. Its a windows based win32 application with perspective modeling environment. It includes boolean functions from primitives and sweep, lathe and beveling functions for 2D polyline shapes. (Killer modeler) It will accept 3DS, DXF and many other formats as input. It will output flc's and avi's as well as targa sequencing. Has integral raytracing and avi and flc mapping capabilities. Will also do field rendering, depth of focus, motion blur, and animated deformation) Best of all list is $795.00 (Street price: around $500.00) I highly recommend it.
