Dear AutoDesk, PMJI, but might I suggest that your QA department shoulder some of the burden of testing Animator Studio, preferably BEFORE you ship the product or updates to that product? It seems to me that the asking price of this product places it beyond the hobbyist market and into a more professional market, professionals typically lose productivity and money whilst they are trying to make a software tool behave in a productive manner without crashing, locking or generally revealing inadequacies. It is YOUR responsibility to minimize this dead time, instead all I have seen are a large number of complaints to which Autodesk simply replies "what is your configuration?", "how big is your Swapdisk?", etc. If AAS will only perform in a reasonable manner within a strictly defined Windows configuration, PLEASE indicate this, describe it's limitations to the potential purchaser before they waste time on a wild goose chase! Test it yourself, your customers have better things to do. >>Of course, we are fixing numerous bugs,<< This product started shipping in April, it is now August. If it takes so long to fix things, STOP TAKING PEOPLES' MONEY!!! whilst you get things right…Recall the product, fix it properly, design it properly, and test it properly! >>but the biggest problem seems to be the huge variation in people's Windows configurations.<< Yes, the world of Windows 3.1 configurations is a jungle. You are living in this jungle and taking money from the residents. Is this news to Autodesk? Stop bleating this recurring theme that majority of Windows 3.1 users should reconfigure to align themselves with Autodesk's view of how Windows should work. Make your product more flexible!! >>However, most people that clean up their systems are very happy with c1<< Question: a) How many people now have c1? Question: b) How many of these people have "cleaned" up their systems? Question: c) How many of these people are NOT Autodesk PR people? Question: d) c1 has hardly shipped yet, how did you get this "very happy" feedback so soon? Brian Howarth

Brian I have the update and it does settle things down more than a bit. There are stilla few bugs that I'm having trouble with in the area of tools, but none are show stoppers. At this point the most serious caveat is that 16 Meg Ram should be listed as the absolute minimum for AS to reasonably. I've been wading throught the tutorials and then doing variations based on the exercises to push the number of balls being juggled and the new release is more stable by a long shot. It does choke on the latest drivers for my ATI mach32 (version 2.6) so I'm using some that are not as quick. I believe this card is based on the S3 chip and anyone using a card like this should switch drivers or try different driver tweaks if they're having trouble. Hope you get your update soon. Al
