Sure would be nice if 3DS MAX PRJ files had the option of saving _ALL_ relevant information. That would mean bitmaps, ipas, and any other information linked to the project in any way. I want to be able to save a project, tote it to another computer that is not connected in any way) and load the project up and go straight to renedering. That means all bitmaps and the such would have to go along in the project. This would make backing up a lot easier also. I pulled an old animation file off a backup today only to find that some of the bitmap files I had used in the materials were not on my server any longer. I'm left only to redo all the bitmaps for that project. Thanks, Daniel

Daniel, Have you checked out the PKZIP -a option in your 3DS.SET file for 3D Studio R4? Kevin Krell – Computer Support Associates

Kevin, >> PKZIP -a option in your 3DS.SET file for 3D Studio R4? I've had good luck with this, except that it doesn't seem to save the mapfile for a bitmapped background. ('Lost a good one that way…) John

That would mean bitmaps, ipas, and any other Daniel (and Jonas), We don't want those PRJ files any bigger than they have to be. <g> Thats why they added the ARCHIVE command under the FILE pull down menu. I frequently do this when delivering a project to a client (and back-ups). This will gather all bitmaps along with the prj info. It will not do IPAS routines as this would sometimes violate copyright info, but it will notify you if any are present. Jonas, I believe this wish was already answered. Good work!<g> Although I believe the archive may miss the background bitmap. I'll check that later… and may re-wish archive to save background bitmap. Ralph
