#Downloading images

I wanted to download an image to view from the library but it was going to take
115 minutes. Is there any quicker way of retrieving image files so I don't end
up spending ridiculous amounts of money to see what's in the library?

Sounds like it's time for a faster modem. CIS should be going to 28.8k in Q1
'96.

Jennifer:
What is the top speed of your modem? Are you connecting to Compuserve on one
of their 14,400 baud telephone numbers? Which software interface are you using
to connect to Compuserve? If you are using WinCim try GO PHONES which will
enable you to find a local Compuserve phone number which supports 14,400 baud
modems. Set your WinCim session to connect at 19,200 baud (I really don't know
why this is a good idea but another sysop told me that I should chose 19,200
over 14,400 as the modems would sync at the highest speed that my modem has
available). Once you are connected at the higher modem speed you should see
your file download times drop significantly. FWIW, during downloads the time
remaining jumps all over the place, it doesn't necessarily count down as a
timer should.
