#World Builder Upgrade Pa
19 messages in this thread
Hi, Martin and everybody!
Please, read message #188548 from Oleg Mishin!!!
Oleg is WB Project Manager, so he knows, what he is talking about.
Don't be confused by his presence on CIS: AnimaTek has couple
CIS accounts (this particular one is registered for their president
Alexey Pajitnov – author of Tetris, Welltris, Faces and El Fish=pre-WB),
but holders of these accounts recide here in Sates, not in Moscow,
where WB is developed. States team develops Bones pro, though.
Why don't we delegate YOU to compile World Builder WISH LIST
(because they already have part of your proposals) and send it
to Oleg regularly through InterNet.
BTW, I found a few CompuServe IDs that belong to Moscovitians, so
it could be that they can now get access to CIS in Moscow. I will
recearch that and advice Oleg to get an account there)
And GUYS, please, remember that for normal bugs, there is Digimation,
which supports this product in US (exclusively).
So this WishList would be only for Real proposals and Really severe bugs.
Thank you,
Alex, Video International
Alek,
>> Please, read message #188548 from Oleg Mishin <<
I have read it, thanks. Also, he sent me e-mail answering all my questions.
This is very good – PR is alive and well and living in Moscow <g>. Thanks to
you for pulling the right strings 😉
It seems some of the problems will be fixed in 1.0 and some of the wishes will
not be available until the NT version (alpha channel, faster anti-aliasing,
wind in the trees, possibly weather but not certainly). That is good news but
the bad news is that this will probably make it impractical to use WB's
renderer. It is more likely that we will only be able to use WB for export to
3ds – if the normals/smoothing problems are fixed with certain flowers/trees in
1.0.
Martin
Hi, Martin!
>>but the bad news is that this will probably make it impractical to use WB's
renderer.
How egoistic you are! <g>
What if Animatek decide to sell WB to non-3DS people?
In that situation WB renderer will be perfectly practical.
Anyway, thanks for accepting "WB Jonas" role:
I think there is no better person for compiling WB WishList.
On Refraction Mapping front: I just rendered couple of Gems
(spent 1 hour on that exercise) and uploaded results:
you may want to check it out – REFRGEMS.JPG in IPAS Usage folder.
Enjoy,
Alex, Video International
Alek,

Normally, I try to qualify my statements with "I think", "for us", "IMHO" etc,
this time I missed it – sorry. What I should have said is "impractical to use
WB's renderer for _us_ on this particular project". I'm not being egotistical
at all, I just have to make these kind of decisions – it's my job. However,
this is not definite. I can often think of a way of getting around these
problems and I may still be able to get around the alpha channel problem.
Martin
Hi, Martin!
>>> the bad news is
The GOOD news is, that both MicheleB and Oleg Mishin did follow my advise
and will meet today in order to show MicheleB all these new WB's features
in action!
I can't wait till MicheleB come back and tell all of us what she have seen!
Waiting for Michele,
Alex, Video International
P.S. As for WB renderer: I just imagined many people who will some day
outgrow Vista Pro…
Alek,
>> I can't wait till MicheleB come back and tell all of us what she have seen!
<<
me too.
Aleksey
>>>- REFRGEMS.JPG in IPAS Usage folder.<<<<
I couldn't find this anywhere.
???? thanks, Will Tait
Will –
New library files don't go into the public libraries automatically. They ahve
to be downloaded, checked for virus, keywords, description and the download
times added. I normally get them within 12 hours of upload <G>
I just released Aleksey's three new files to the public IPAS library. They are
REFRUBY.ZIP, REFRGEMS.JPG and CRYSTAL.ZIP. Fascinating! Best part about doing
all the library work is I get to see them first.
anne
Thanks, Anne!
First for such a speedy turnaround and
>>Fascinating! Best part about doing all the library work is I get to see them
first.
secondly, for the compliment!
In the future I will try to wait at least 12 hours before telling anybody what
I
uploaded, to avoid confusion.
(I just did not expect that somebody will be that fast reading my messages).
Thanks again,
Alex, Video International
P.S. Did you really like these gems? Because my wife now asks me to get her
ruby one for real.
Alex –
Yes I truly did enjoy the images. it is fascinating to see the reflection as
the gems rotate. I do NOT understand the technical workings of all the programs
but I sure can enjoy seeing the end product <G>
I'd tell your wife to hold out for diamonds. We "material girls" have to stick
together.
I'm not always able to get files uploaded in 12 hours!. Our forum says 24 hours
but I usually do them quicker. I always post a message in Section 9, Index and
Information listing all the files I've uploaded during the day. Once you see
that message you know the file is available.
Anne
Hi, Will!
As you know, all files uploaded to the forum should be checked for viruses
(even images), it causes some delays.
I uploaded REFRGEMS.JPG , plus REFRRUBY.ZIP pluc CRYSTAL.ZIP.
I would recomend everybody to check out REFRGEMS.JPG (it is just 100K).
and Only in the case you don't believe, that these gems are animatable,
download CRYSTAL.zip or REFRRUBY.zip,
otherwise you don't need latest two.
Alex, Video International
Aleksey,
I will get them tonight.
I look forward to the evolution of the various programs.
Will
Hi, Will!
>>I look forward to the evolution of the various programs.
I am preparing long AlexNews message with official announcements about
Video International's development plans till the end of this year.
I will post it right here, in this section (or in "Ads", depending on "usage
vs. ads"
persentage of the news).
Delay is related to the fact, that both Digimation and Details are
involved in our plans: Digimation as a distributor and Details as OrganiX's
author, so we have to synchronize our efforts.
Regards,
Alex, Video International
Alek,
>> Why don't we delegate YOU to compile World Builder WISH LIST
(because they already have part of your proposals) and send it
to Oleg regularly through InterNet. >>
OK, I'll add it to the 10,001 other things I already have to do <G>.
Martin,
I have a couple of things I'd like to add to that list
Mike,
>> I have a couple of things I'd like to add to that list <<
post them here and I'll add them to the master list. I'm planning to e-mail to
Oleg Mishin as needed via Internet.
Actually, I started to list them and then mistakenly sent you that message
without the list. Sigh. Sometimes these computers are just too smart for
their own good!
One of the things I'd definitely like to be able to do is to export a skeleton
line so that I can bring it in as a path either in the 2D or 3D shaper. This
way we could loft walls, fences, etc. right on the hill line. I can imagine
some architects would probably want this ability as well. Trying it now you
get a "not a polyline".
The reverse would probably also be nice — allowing you to import a 3DS path as
a skeleton line. Neither one of these should be difficult to do.
Medium hard category — need to be able to import projector lights. I realize
that 3DS integration will make this (and other similar items) much easier.
In the "Wish Upon a Star" category, we need whitecaps on the water and water
that flows along a skeleton line. Those, along with animated clouds/weather,
would make this program just about perfect (well, you already have the
antialiasing and other sundry problems covered).
