#Refractive Drippy Bumped

Hey All,
Refractive Drippy has been bumped to the outer limits <BG>. For those
of you who can find the ASHOWCASE forum (and I think you can) the files
driprefa.jpg and driprefb.jpg are in the new files library. Do I dare try and
upload the animation <BG>. I'll try to send it up tommorrow. Alexsey…..if
your out there download the files from the ASHOWCASE forum and let me know what
you think.

Can I ask how you made the effect on "Drippy" I'd love to make an alien blob
attack the Enterprise, but have no idea how you did that excellent affect

Hey Geg,
I used Refractive Mapping from Video International. This Plug-In is
available from Digimation. Basically what I did was hid the character in the
scene and then rendered the background. The background was then turned into a
material in the material editor and put to the scene (I used it as a
background). After that the character was unhid and the scene rendered. I was
very pleased with the results….especially with refdripb.jpg. Even the shadows
refracted. If your looking for this kind of effect I strongly recommend picking
up this Plug-In by Video International from Digimation.
Anne has agreed to move Drippy back to IPAS1 once you upload to ASHOWCASE.
Please break them into seperate images and upload as JPG (not zipped) so the
masses using online viewers can see them online.

This is one of the times I goofed <G>. Yeap – I do goof. These are two files
(REFDRIPA and B.JPG) or the one file zipped that I should have released here in
AMMEDIA. I checked this AM and members are downloading it in ASHOWCASE. This is
one of the times when a library file contains information that is under active
discussion on the forum and should be here in AMMEDIA. Reup the Zip here to
IPAS if you want or just continue to point folks over to ASHOWCASE.

Since these files are jpg zipping them saves nothing. As Lee Steel (FA)
suggested if I send them unzipped forum members can view them online (see
message #190417)…so I did thinking that you would just move them to AMMEDIA
like your last message stated. I have a fli done of it now and would suggest
that I upload the animation to AMMEDIA and if you could just move the jpg files
over for me…….. thanks for your help……<jir>

Trying to get some help with the library files so they get out in quick time to
public view. Your animation is waiting to be done. I'll move the Refdrips back
when I return to Maine. In the meantime they are getting a lot of downloads in
ASHOWCASE.

Oh, animation is much better then stills!
You did use Refraction Mapping properly and
as an award you've got such a nice animation.
I don't know how much effort it was, but surely
enough RefrMap saved you some time!

I think Drippy will benefit from Reflection as well. Have you tried to apply
transparent
material with reflection map (ususally 20-25% of biglake.gif works fine)
to Drippy and leaving Hide option unslected?
That would add some reflection to Drippy and he would look even more waterly.
(If you had reflection, then setting was to low, it was practically
unnoticable).
