#LW4.0 Intel-When?
3 messages in this thread
Any clues about how long it will be before I receive the production release 4.0
of LW for Windows. I purchased the pre-release and registered in the middle of
May. (Customer Service says I'm in the database)
I've just about gone nuts waiting and holding up a project for the release that
was due "in two weeks" for the past 4 months. The production version has
features I really need to get this job done-just hoping the thing will really
get to my doorstep someday….

Sam,
Why not send your scene, image and object files to an Amiga based LW place with
LW 3.5 and have them render to RGB files that can be converted to whatever
format you need for going to tape/film or whatever your final media is or
rendering to the final media itself? That might beat waiting if the project is
real important. If this sounds like an option let me know and we can get
together on pricing.

Thanks for the offer-I have other choices in-house, like 3D Studio and
Animation Master. Actually I'll be using all three in the final production-3D
Studio for the special effects, Animation Master for the character stuff and LW
(I'm impressed with it's rendering beauty).
I'm producing a 30 minute video for my own company so I have some gove and take
on the schedule-but I had hoped to use this project to really evaluate my
investment in LW. The product's implementation was enough for me to bear with
the remarkable delays, but I'm really considering going ahead w/o it.
Newtek customer service says at the end of the 4 week period for shipping to
pre-release owners they will tell me if they've forgotten to send me the
production release or not! Newteks' business approach is new for me-but
unfortunately not singular in the industry.
Interesting to note that their customers are some of the most entrepreneural
and helpful I've run across-makes up for herky-jerky business practices. The
resources for learning this product are the best I've seen!
Hopefully the sorted shipping list will bless me with the "real" release within
the next week!
