I've just purchased Magic ipas. I was viewing the examples and in the one called "Magic_4.3ds" there was a box with a process called FMAGIC_I.AXP. However, installation disk doesn't contain this process. Anybody knows what's the matter? Thanks, Francisco.

Francisco, There was a small oversight when the .3DS file was saved for the distribution disk. Simply load the MAGIC4_I.AXP and you should be up and running in no time. If you've got any more questions don't hesitate to call David or me at Digimation at (504) 468-7898. Enjoy Beau

Thanks, I figured it was something like this. By the way, one question: in the starship explosion in one of the example flics, how do you do the blasting?

How was the sample animation of the magic dusting the letters, and coating them with glitter? Was only Magic used, or was it a combination of magic and LenZfx?

Do you already have Magic? I can talk you through this one.

I can talk you through this one.< I'd be interested in some tips also. The glitter seems to be a glow or hilite. I assue I can use LenZFX to add that. Not sure when to use magic2, magic3 or magic4. What are the differences? I know some people said magic3 had bugs.

The "2", "3". & "4" coincide with the release of 3DS you are using. Eahc has features that are optomized for it's version although all will run under R4. There was a change between 3 and 4 which had somthing to do with "life span" and particles released when creating an effect like a bomb-fuse. You'll have to bare with me, I don't have all this info in front of me. I will check back, perhaps later today and fill you in further. Lee

>>Do you already have Magic? I can talk you through this one.<< Yes, but i've purchased it two days ago, so i'm not very skilled at this ipas. Perhaps you can tell me some tips. Thanks.

As long as you get a grasp of controlling the duration of the effect and how many particles are released on each frame you should have no problem. One of my favorite things to do is to create custom gradients 1 pixel high by (?) the number of frames in your effect and use this as your AXP material. This gives you absolute control over the end result. BTW this means of color control works with all AXP materials. Please feel free to post any questions reguarding specific problems/questions to me.
