Dear Experts, I feel really silly asking this question but here goes !! How do you draw a three dimensional path ? I can create 2 dimensional ones (using the 2-d shaper) but do not know how to create something complex in 3 dimensions. For example, say I wanted to draw a Trumpet, how would I create the path of the tube that starts from the Trumpet's mouthpiece and ends up at the Trumpet's bell end ? Thanks in anticipation. Jez

Jez In the 3DLofter use Path/Get Shaper. Use Path/Move Vertex, etc to adjust the path in the 3rd dimension. Setting snaps in Views/Drawing Aids and typing S to use the snaps will help a lot. Have fun -Ted Boardman

In addition to Ted's reply… If for what ever reason you must have a three dimensional lofting path, I find it helpful to create a 3D guide in the editor. For example, I needed a pipeline that was lofted so that I could use an animated texture map along the pipeline's course. I made a "guide" pipeline from elbows (a 2D circle lofted along an arc) and cylinders. Once my "guide" was ready I went into the shaper, selected "3D display" ON, and made a path that followed as much of the "guide" object as possible. Assign the path and go to the lofter. Again, select "3D display" ON. You can then move and adjust the path as needed. With the 3D display on, you have a guide in 3-dimensions to follow as you adjust your new path. Good luck, have patience, and you will be pleased! Chris
