I still don't fully understand the difference between a 3ds file and a PRJ file except that the latter will also save lofter and shaper files. Is this the only diff? Peter Landeck From GCP [25-Sep-95,12:36]

PRJ. files also save any materials in the materials editor. Jason

Hi Jonas, PJMI on this thread, but I had a similar question. The university where I work has some experimental unix programs that convert voxels (MRI output data) into triangulated surface meshes. We are curious to see how we might interface 3DS, Acad, and CDK to applications for medical visualization/education. I need to provide the programmers for in depth file specs for .DXF, .3DS, and ACIS, so they can attempt to write conversion software. Where can I get ALL the specs they might ever need. (i.e. I need as much info as is available.) Once again…Thanks. Carlton Newton VCU

Peter, A prj file basically retains anything you've created in any of the 5 odd modules off 3dstudio. Regards, Peter Kroko
